As part of activities marking the 62nd Independence Day Celebration of Ghana worldwide, the Association of Ghanaians in Hordaland extended an invitation to H.E. Mrs. Jennifer Lartey to be the guest of honour at the celebration of their local event. During the 3-day visit to Bergen.
Ambassador Lartey also used the chance to pay a courtesy call on the Mayor of Bergen, meet with executives of the Bergen Chamber of Commerce and Industry and interact with a cross-section of Ghanaians living in the community where she noted their various concerns and expectations of the new Embassy.
Bergen is a fast growing modern city with one of Europe’s largest harbours and known for its oil export facilities. It is the port with the largest merchant fleet in Scandinavia and also houses the main base of the Norwegian Navy.
Visibly excited, South Africa’s Ambassador to Oslo, H.E. Ms. Selaelo Irene Ramokgopa welcomed for the first time, Ghana’s Ambassador to Norway, H.E. Mrs Jennifer Lartey to Oslo and the Embassy.
During the meeting, both Ambassadors pledged to roll out activities that would bring closer the African Group of Ambassadors while still finding innovative ways to offer consular and welfare services to their respective citizens. The South African Ambassador also used the opportunity to brief the new Ambassador on diplomatic activities that usually run throughout the year in Oslo.
